intense, careful, and determined
4 THINGS YOU PROBABLY DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME:
I was almost kicked out of school, and that played a part in my marriage
It was 1997, I was 12 years old, and five of my classmates had been “asked to leave school” for behavioral issues, while I was given one last chance. However, since I was in detention, they assigned me to work on a long-term project with the most “nerdy” girl in the class. At first it was hard—we barely spoke—but little by little we became best friends. Three years later, I would meet Carlos through her.
I went to an NBA game just so I'd have something to talk about with Cadu...
In 2016, I became a foster aunt to two children with the intention of adopting them
There were plenty of times when I tried to “give God a hand.” I wanted to get married and have kids, and I felt like everything was taking too long. And then I had this “brilliant” idea: I’ll adopt. I totally underestimated EVERYTHING. It was an intense experience—good and painful at the same time. God had other plans.
By the end of 2019, I had come to terms with being single
I didn’t come to this conclusion easily. In a unique experience with God, in the end, I surrendered “my Isaac”—that desire that had caused my heart so much pain. It was a genuine surrender, and I felt relief. I never even imagined that the dream would be restored so quickly.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways.” Isa. 55:9
